Paula Currie, CMP
Paula Currie has 25+ years of experience in association management with a specific focus on meeting and event management. As Director of Business Development & Events for the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), Paula oversaw the planning and execution of the Association’s 2 bi-annual conferences with attendance reaching 1,800 people, multiple workshops and seminars, sponsorship programs, and non-dues related programs. Paula obtained her Certified Meeting Planner designation in 2010 and was active in the MPISacramento/Sierra-Nevada Chapter where she served on Board of Directors in various positions. Paula is currently a member of the MPI Tennessee Chapter. Paula received the 2017 MPISSN Planner of the Year Award.
Paula’s years of RFP and site selection experience, along with her industry knowledge and ability to create strategic partnerships with hoteliers, convention centers, and visitors bureaus, allow her to envision and deliver meetings that work – for organizations, suppliers, and attendees.
As a consultant, Paula offers services ranging from expert advice on the optimal structure and likely performance outcomes of a proposed new event, to profitability analysis and improvement recommendations for underperforming or evolving programs. As a contract meeting planner, Paula oversees the proposal process, site selection, room block management, program development, speaker management, vendor RFP and selection for audio visual, trade show production and entertainment as well as staff management and leadership. Paula has extensive experience working with both small and large Boards and served as staff liaison to various committees including Business Development and Membership.
